DP William Ruto Releases "Hatupangwingwi" Campaign Video Remix hours after NCIC Bans the Phrase-Watch!

Kenyan's Deputy President and UDA Presidential flag bearer Dr. William Samoei Ruto has today Friday, 8 April, 2022 released his campaign Video Remix song featuring the phrase "Sipangwingwi".

This happened hours after the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) released a list of phrases which are considered hate speech in Kenya.

One of the phrases in the Commission list is "Sipangwingwi" which originated from a song by Kenyan artiste Exray featuring Trio Mio and Ssaru.

DP William Ruto and the UDA party and in extension Kenya Kwanza Campaign teams have been using extensively using the phrase during their campaigns.

The blacklisting of the phrase "Sipangwingwi" by the NCIC has elicited mixed reactions across the political devide in Kenya, but mostly affected are the Kenya Kwanza political faction affiliated to DP William Ruto.

From some of the reactions on Social Media, DP Ruto supporters feels the ban was targeted on their campaigns considering that they were already using the phrase.

One of the Kenya Kwanza Legislature, Elgeyo Marakwet County Senator Kipchumba Murkomen wrote this on Social Media "Hey @NCIC_Kenya HATUPANGWINGWI. Volume iko sawa ama niongeze". This could be interpreted to mean NCIC actions didn't go well with the legislature.

Here is the video Remix as shared by the Deputy President William Ruto.
