On Friday, 8 April, 2022, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission(NCIC) released a list of Phrases and words in Swahili, English and local languages that the commission classified as hate speech.
The commission Chairperson Rev.Dr. Samuel Kobia on Friday termed the highlighted words as provocative and are likely to cause violence amongst communities if used especially now that the country is headed for a general elections in August 9, 2022.
Rev. Dr. Kobia said anyone in violation of use the banned phrase and words would face the full force of the Law.
This will go along way in containing hate speech and ensuring that our country is safe and secure for every citizen during and after the Elections
